Volunteer Portal

Thank you for volunteering with us! We’re glad you’re here.

We’ve created this portal so that you have all the information you need before you arrive onsite. It’s important to us that you feel equipped and set up for success, so please make sure to review everything below.

What to expect

While volunteering with Fresh Fruits you can expect to serve selflessly, grow in your spiritual gifts and grow in intimacy with the Lord. The heart beat behind everything that we do is that it is unto Jesus himself (Matthew 25:34-45). God has a high value for those we serve and while we serve, we believe that we can’t help but catch his heart and care for individuals. Practically those we serve are usually struggling with things like homelessness, drug addiction, mental illness, deep trauma, PTSD, etc. Some folks are also convicted felons. Realistically people may act irrationally or inappropriately. We ask that no one go off on their own and please make sure to minister two by two.

Fellowship Dinners:

At our Fellowship Dinners, we are serving a nice, home-cooked meal at beautifully set tables in the back parking lot of a transitional housing motel. You can expect to serve practically by setting up tables, chairs, and food, then either serving food or mingling.

Every volunteer can expect to eat dinner alongside new friends (if you’d like) - our desire is to really fellowship while breaking bread together. You can expect to have conversations and maybe even pray for/ minister to someone you meet. If you aren’t comfortable mingling, you are welcome to volunteer on the food line.

A couple of things to note:

✋🏼 Due to the nature of serving at a transitional housing motel, we cannot bring children onto the premises.

⚠️ There is police security present at the motel. We ultimately know that God is covering us while we serve, and also we will always take precautions to keep our team safe.

Bagel Tuesdays:

On Tuesday mornings we serve coffee and bagels to our friends living in a local temporary housing motel.

We serve simply at a table in the parking lot. At our Bagel Tuesdays outreach, you can expect to serve the items, have conversation and potentially pray for residents in the motel. We value building friendship in this time and helping people to feel seen and cared for.

Backpack Outreaches:

We will meet at the communicated location, chat and pray together, then gear up and go on foot from there. You can expect to wear a backpack that has supplies such as drinks, snacks, personal hygiene items and essentials to live. The terrain will sometimes be in the woods, and on muddy, uneven ground, etc. We will go to those living in tent camps and on the streets to serve them by giving supplies, praying and having conversation.

You can expect to practically bless people and also see Jesus heal physically and emotionally. Often times people are experiencing a lot of brokenness and are desperate for God. It is a challenging but beautiful outreach experience. You can also expect to get rejected. Sometimes our friends are in the situations they are in and don’t want help/attention/care. We respect that and move on. We are there for those who want help and/or are hungry for God. After the backpack outreach we will debrief and pray together back where we started.
